Create your household and name it well
What a household is in MyVesta, and why the name matters more than you think.
A household is the container for everything in MyVesta. Every record, file and member belongs to exactly one household, and nothing crosses between households. When you sign up, one is created for you automatically using the household name you entered.
Choosing a name
Use the name a relative would recognize on a difficult day: 'The Mathieson Family' or '14 Rowan Street'. If you keep more than one household — your own and a parent's, for example — clear names save confusion later.
What to do first
- Verify your email address so password resets and notifications reach you.
- Add the two or three records you would struggle to find today.
- Invite one person you trust, even if you only give them read access to a single category.
You can rename a household at any time from Settings. Renaming changes nothing about who can see it.
